Our third team training day of the year took place on a sunny Sunday, 13th July at the impressive new Steel Foundry Crossfit box in Manchester.
We were delighted to welcome our regulars and lots of new faces from our online community for an opportunity to come together for a day of learning, training, and bonding!
We got off to a special start as we introduced our first training day guest, the Movement and Wellbeing Clinic, who hosted a workshop to help our community members understand injury prevention for the back, shoulders, hips, and knees.
After Alex and Sarah took our members through a group warm-up, it was time to let the fun and games begin!
The team got their training started by diving into a strength block of Deadlifts and Power Cleans, where they slowly built their way into a heavy double.
We weren't surprised to see PB's being smashed left, right, and centre, and our clients were only just getting started!
Next up, round two: Team of 3 Workout!
But first, each team had to buy their way into the workout with a 1000m row/ski. One team member got to work while the other two got some valuable (and rare!) rest.
Next, into some synchronised work, which really tested everyone’s ability to work as a team!
Exercises included synchronised box jumps, sit-ups, dumbbell snatches, and hand release push-ups among others.
As if that wasn't enough, the teams still had to buy their way out of the workout with another 1000m row/ski. This time though, they had the help of the EMA's furry mascot Bruno to get them over the finish line!
To wrap-up the days training, Alex and Sarah joined in and provided some extra encouragement to get the team through the final workout!
Teams of four got their heads down and worked together to complete an 18 minute AMRAP, which included a cycle, row, and run.
By the end of it, some of our members had competed as much as 150 calories on the bike, 150 calories on the rower, and ran over 1km!
None of this would have been possible without the never-ending encouragement and team spirit that our community brings to each and every training day!
After all their hard work and determination, we couldn't let our members go home on an empty stomach!
We signed off another incredibly successful team training day by providing everyone involved with the opportunity to relax and refuel, courtesy of the delicious Bondi Bowls.
